Nature conscious decisions have become imperative post pandemic and the significance of sustainability is, thus, indispensable. With an end to the long stretch online interaction, globally, the need of personal encounters on new approaches and tactile impressions have become apparent.
After the hiatus caused due to covid-19 and with the end of the Heimtextil Summer Special, the preparation of the first event of year 2023 by Messe Frankfurt is in full swing. Heimtextil, an international trade fair for home and contract textile is set to take place from January 10-13, 2023 at its regular exhibition centre in Frankfurt, Germany.
At an exclusive press networking luncheon held in Mumbai recently, Olaf Schmidt, VP – Textile & Textile Technologies, Messe Frankfurt (Heimtextil) and Stephan Kurzawski, Sr VP, Messe Frankfurt (Ambiente) presented the plans for the upcoming exhibitions – Heimtextil, Ambiente and Christmas World.
With an enveloping theme of sustainability, Green Village, a platform for discussion with the seal providers and certifiers is the highlight of this year’s fair. Curated tour guides will orient the visitors towards sustainable strategies and products offered by the exhibitors. The platform will also encourage the visitors to familiarise themselves with the latest eco-friendly textile innovations in the industry. The applications for Green Directory are also expected to increase steadily this year.
A notable introduction of the ‘Future Material Library’ will be presented in the Heimtextil 2023 as part of the Trend Space 2023/24, the USP of the event that sets the trends for the upcoming year with a bundled overview of textile innovations. This year’s construction based low waste material manifesto amplifies the commitment to sustainability development goals. Olaf Schmidt also spoke about the importance of a circular economy from origin to disposal – of textiles while presenting the plans for Heimtextil.
An expert curated specialist program, Interior.Architecture.Hospitality, for the designers of the hospitality segment will showcase innovative textile solutions in the contract sector. A large-scale program, this segment will have stalwarts talking about the current industry practice such as sustainability and list all the suppliers of contract textiles. A brand new edition of functional textile will be added to the Interior.Architecture.Hospitality library which was launched in 2020. The library can also be found online at www.textile-library.de.
Heimtextil 2023 has witnessed strong international demand from 50 nations and over 2200 participation of exhibitors. While China is struggling to gain access, 400 Indian exhibitors have already registered this year. D Décor Exports, Dicitex Furnishings, Vrijesh Corporation, Nandan Terry, Premier Fine Linens are few names among the participants. The event presents a large platform for international recognition to textile designers from all over the world.
With textiles ranging from decorative and furniture fabrics, bedding and bath fashion, window and interior decoration, to textile design & technology- Heimtextil 2023 aims to accelerate sector engagement and commit to its sustainable development goals.
